Complete Card & Mentalism Crash Course

Postby Mr. Burger » Aug 26th, '05, 13:30

Card Techniques such as the:
Card spring, charlier cut, DL, elmsley count, lapping, palming (tenkai and more), pass, short card, snap change, top change and toppit

And just various basic methods in misdirection and creating drama.

For cards, i had a look at:
CRASH COURSE IN CARDS BY ELLUSIONIST
http://www.ellusionist.com/order/crash1order.htm
EXPERT CARD TECHNIQUE

ROYAL ROAD TO CARD MAGIC
http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=111
MINDPOWER DECK

Mentalism, I had a look at:
Swami Gimmick
http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=20
PK Touches
http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=124
13 Steps To Mentalism - Corinda
http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=239

I just want to know whether there are anymore notable books, DVDs and tricks etc.

Basically, i want to master most techniques that allow me to do nearly all the tricks in Derren Brown's Devils Picturebook, PK touches by Steve Shaw and various other mentalist-y tricks. I realise it's a bit pretentious that i am trying to learn most of these within a year or 2 , but i'll have a go.
I'm on quite a short budget here.

Cheers.

Firstly, a lot of those things are too ambitious. I'd recommend that you save them for later - for example, for PK Touches and MindPower deck (less so) you need great presentational skills. Most of the magic with these effects is the story you weave about it.

I'd recommend getting 13 Steps, and depending on how much of a beginner you are, Born to Perform.

You simply cannot fall off with Born To Perform. There's a review of it here =o)

Save Mind power for later (and get the new version 'mind power 2')

Performing "smoke" takes good confidence and showmanship to pull it off
