Still no luck with logon. I have XP Pro SP2 and IE 6. I've made the changes within Tools>Internet Options>Content, cleared TIFs and Internet History and I have the most up to data Java installed.

I have ZoneAlarm and am behind a router. I disabled ZoneAlarm but still no luck. I even disabled my McAfee AV at the same time (I didn't enjoy that!) but no luck.

Any further ideas? How about you Rune, have you managed to sort the problem on your PC?

i know this is off topic but the episode of black adder is the one where Blackadder and melchett are taken hostage by "funny looking men with ridiculous moustaches and say "excuse me meister" before hitting them on the head with a big lump of wood"

I get intermittent logon problems as well - when I can be bothered I close IE, manually delete the TM cookies and start again. That keeps things ticking over for a bit.

Take care, Ian

Cheers, This should also be dine through windows updates ... check you have all the latest patchs AND optional installs done.

The JRE is used to run Java applets and Java-based executables. JavaScript is interpreted by the browser itself, and thus, does not require to JRE to run.

PS: Looking through the HTML source of a PHP file likely wouldn't be of much help, as to my knowledge, username and password cookie information is read and edited via PHP rather than JavaScript in phpBB.

Also note that your firewall software in addition to your antivirus software can play a role in your browser's ability to store cookies. You may need to edit the settings of either or both programs.

hmm .. I'm just runing the windows XP Firewall and was umable to find anything ... but as you say if you are running a 3rd party firewall or perhaps your router has a Firewall built in that is blocking it?

As for security levels on IE ... they are set to "Medium" as standard as mine is .. but double check it.

I find absolutely no problem with MagicBunny which has exactly the same type of forum. Surely any firewall problem would effect this one too?

That's interesting that you can access MB in this way but not TM. I can't get an automatic log on to either. I've done all of the tweaks, deletions etc. mentioned above to no avail. I know it's no big thing to have to log on manually but it's confusing why the automatic logon doesn't work. I don't have any problems with some other sites that I access.

Hmm .. RCarlson .. i know that you started having this issue when you re-installed your IE ... have you got all the latest security patches from Windows Update installed? ... some of them maybe in the Optional section when you run a "custom" install of windows updates rather than an "express" .... try getting all the latest patches .. see if makes a difference.

Hi Rob

I don't know about Rune but all of my Windows Updates are current. I suspect that his are too. I'm stumped! I have, somewhat reluctantly, turned off all of my security (McAfee AV, ZoneAlarm) and tried again. Needless to say, I immediately ran a full AV, AdAware and Spybot scan without any problems having been identified (whew!). The only thing that I couldn't disable was my router and I know that has an in-built firewall.
