The messages I have recently sent via instant message seem to be just sitting in my Outbox instead of flapping there little cyber wings to the intended inbox's.

Can anyone enlighten me to why this is occurring?

Have the people you have sent them to logged on since you sent them? PMs go into your outbox until the recipient logs on and then they are sent.
