Postby Mark Waddington » Sep 3rd, '05, 11:00

Hi guys

Just thought i would let you know that last night i participated in the close up and stage competitions at the Bradford magic circle, and finished 2nd in both competitions, with the winner beating me by 2 points.

Cheers guys

Ive been interested since i was 5 and have been performing since i was 10, so ive been performing for 6 years.

Magic i did:

Close up:
had a 4 of a kind selected and lost in deck, they all appear at top 1 by 1. Tthhen move onto twisting the aces with the selected 4 of a kind, then a colour test. Moved onto a collectors and then card shark. Finished by having a card selected and lost, then mentally choiosiing the card, spelliing the card to find it, and alsoo finding the others from that 4 of a kind.

Stage:
5 card repeat, then borrowed a ring and had it putt in a box and looked after, also giving a kiwi to the person who leant the ring. Vanishing bottle, changing to tomato sauce. mental yarn, unequally equal magic wands then ring is magically found in the kiwi.

P.s. sorry about any double typing, the keyboard on my laptop is naff!

my main consifderatioon in the close up was to do something where you had no excuse to put cards away, so i made everything gimmickless (with the exception of cardshark) and in chronological order, e.g. instead of just taking a 4 of a kind, have them seleted by someone in the audience. I was only 5 points off 1st place, and i lost them because i overran by a few seconds in close up.

It was even closer in stage, with their being only 1 point in it!

Blimey - penalised for giving better 'value for money' than the winners!
