Lee Asher's "Asher Twist"

Ok. Here I think is the best effect I have ever learnt!

Although I never actually bought this effect (learning it from the presentation video), the effect is so amazing that I think I will buy the explanation for it sooner or later.

The trick requires so gadgets or gizmos... pure sleight of hand based.

I knokw I made one slight error in the video but I don't think it's too big a deal.

I've been making so many flourish videos lately so I thought it would be nice if I showed some magic instead of the showing the same things over and over again.

I would patter for it but my microphone is dead. Will buy one soon.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I liked it :)

I've liked it since i saw a similar video on a forum. I've been looking to buy Asher's Well Done video for a while now but it's always "Sold Out." I guess i should study the videos more and figure it out like you did :D

I know why you've been doing flourishes more recently. I got my XB dvd recently as well :P

Nicely performed but far too fast in my opinion. Slow it down; the only thing in that whole video that looks good fast is the final ace revelations (turning them all face up, then face down). The rest of it should be so much slower. And it would be nice to see a presentation for this, but if your mic's broken, not to worry.

All the best,

LoL. My XB DVD hasn't arrived yet! So that's not the reason. It's been 2 weeks as well!

I know what you mean. But I think with the patter, the trick would work at that speed. If I slow it down, IMO, I find it less magical because the 4 cards have been together for too long and it plays a part of making you think that the cards were always like that. (Sound complicated enough?)

I haven't been able to do this trick in real life well just yet. On camera makes it look so much better.

You'll be doing more flourish videos when you get it then :D

Just for your information, mine was posted on Aug 10th and was available to collect from the post office on Aug 24th. I used the cheapest postal method and had to pay Royal Mail £8.04 :-(

That was VERY nice indeed. Really nice moves and sleights. As said earlier Steve, slow it down, it will look even more magical if you do so. Asher is marvellous. Keep it coming, mate !

I ordered mine on the 14th and in theory it should have arrived today! In reality, it didn't lol. Hopefully it'll come soon. I used the cheapest postal method as well.

Really appreciate that Rune. I will make another video of it later with you guy's recommendations. I'll try and slow it down a bit.

Thanks!

Very nice. However, as others have mentioned, you need to slow it down to get it looking smoother. It took me ages to perfect the Asher Twist and to perform it silently and it was worth every minute. If you have not already seen it, you can see the man himself performing this fantastic sleight here. In Lee Asher's hands, it's about as close to real magic as you're going to get. You can also view a performance of Ricochet on the same page, which is a great trick using the Asher Twist. Ricochet can be purchased here.

Regarding the Well Done video, I emailed Lee Asher in May and got the following response:

Thank you for the kind words about WELL DONE.

As of right now, WELL DONE is not available. I am in the middle of a
format change. Hopefully it will be available again in several months.

Please get on my mailing list so you will know when it releases:

Looked very nice. Like to see it with full patter presentation, as in the real world the presentation is critical to successful performance and needs at least as much work as the sleights. With patter it would also automatically be slower, which would also be a good thing.

well done though.

Very very very well performed stevebo! I wish I could do that!

Personally, I prefer the effect of Ricochet, because although cards turning over could be attributed to sleight of hand, cards changing one at a time into other cards really couldn't.

However, the Asher Twist is a great effect too!

Thanks for the comments guys.

About Ricochet, although a nice effect, I still find the Asher Twist better mainly because it doesn't require gaffed cards. I'm not a huge fan of gaffs or gimmicks.

Also, Asher's presentation of the Asher Twist seems so much better than Ricochet. Just my preference.

I think the reason I like the Asher Twist so much is because it's examinable and the handling of cards is sooooooo slick and fluid because it looks just as though you are spreading the cards naturally.

I thought the execution and speed was great....a little faster than Asher does it but it still looked aewsome.

Cheers.
