Hello everyone, I did a very brief intro on Friday night, I thought the idea was to always leave them wanting more! Anyway, I'm quite new to magic, I got interested about 3 years ago and bought a few tricks and various gimmicked decks. I've only performed for familly and friends but I soon realised that all the skill in my tricks was in the design and manufacture of the tricks themselves. Since then I've been concentrating on card tricks using real un-gimmicked decks - I love it when someone gives you their cards and asks you to do a trick!
I'm now looking to add a few new bits and pieces to my routine.

Welcoem timmy ... un-gimmicked tricks are the good stuff.... you know you've had a good day when your fingers are bruised from practicing your riffle shuffles! lol

That's not quite true...not even all the technical skill is in the design of the trick. For example, with the stripper deck you can find their card. But then what? You have to use a control to get it to the top. That's your skill. And also, magic is at least 50% presentation. That isn't part of the trick!

Well a couple of card enthusiasts......I too am a man of cards! I began by learning some basic sleights and flourishes, and then found the lovely world of gaffed decks and cards. By no means do I depend on them, but presented properly, and at the right time, they can be very useful!
