Hi there

Totally forgot to make a topic here ...

I'm Alan Belmer, 31 years old, Skilled Hobbyist (with some things).
I mostly do card tricks, but I'm trying out other things now to get some more variety in the tricks i perform.

I'm from the Netherlands and work as a graphics designer with a small video/electronics company.

Because of epilepsy i always have a slight uncontrollable trembling in my fingers, which makes it very hard to do certain things. That's why i prefer to do the easy tricks and have given up on the realy difficult sleights.

I am thinking about trying to get a job in the evening in a local restaurant for a few hours a day/week with some table hopping, but first i need to learn some more tricks.

What is it about graphic designers and magic? I too do design, (well mainly illustration) I guess we must have too much time on our hands! Welcome to TM! Whereabouts in NL are you? Was amazed how when I have visited Amsterdam there was no magic to be seen?

I live far away from Amsterdam, but i was born there. Only lived there for about 4 years, then we moved to were we are today. Don't remember much of Amsterdam, i was only a little kid back then.

Was amazed how when I have visited Amsterdam there was no magic to be seen?

Well, there is a lot of 'magic' going on in Amsterdam, just not the type we discuss on these forums

Hello Bundy!

I too love close-up, and prefer cards. I have struggled to add more depth to my routines by moving towards coins, ropes, etc......Hope I can be of assistance to you! I would love to swap ideas on bringing more items into my card routines!

I once watched a performer that had a "tremble".....not sure if it was epilepsy or not, but he did a brilliant job of making a routine around it, and at times his trembling provided much needed misdirection for sleights.....he did an amazing job!
