Ok I've finally sorted mine. It was a browser problem. I've just installed a different browser and it's all fine now, unless I use the old browser and then back to not working again. So for others with this problem might be useful to know.

I recently changed to Firefox, mainly because my computer is riddled with spyware that I can't remove, and IE became unusable. Firefox is much better , I think. Does anybody know how to uninstall IE, I can't see where I could do this. I have tried add/remove programs, but I can't.Also, if I do, will it affect my internet connection?

Windows XP - Other than that in the Add/Remove programs you will find a section for "windows components" its in there ... but this is only a pretty lame uninstall that removes all the links. Internet Explorer is an essential part of the OS and cannot be removed, it can however be re-paired and/or re-installed.

Give them a go ... like i say, try re-installing and repairing your internet explorer ... Its my job to make sure you guys use MS IE .... ehehehe

If your computer is riddled with spyware, you have a problem.

Do a windows reinstall if you have to but I would just try to get rid of it first...

there are some good free spyware removal programs around.

Yep ... use the microsoft Anti-Spyware tool .... it will get rid of most things ... but as kati has said .. the onlyway to get rid of everything is to format the drive and re-install windows ... you still run the threat of boot-sector viruses staying around, but you can re-create the boot partition using the windows recovery console if you have the right disks.

I have ad-aware and spybot, but when I run them, and delete all the spyware (or apparently delete it), It's still there. The spyware doesn't really bother me, it's just that the popups that I get are in an IE window, and if I could delete IE, then maybe this would fix it. I will try re-install IE.

Oh, one more thing. What does about:blank mean? When I open IE, this is the address of the homepage that the spyware has set.
