Howdy, Beginner and welcome to Talk Magic.
Have a look around, check out the search function for TONS of reviews on everything you could possibly ask for.
There are plenty of online shops you can check out. Depending on where you live, here's a few:
US-based
Penguin Magic -
http://www.penguinmagic.com/ - Good prices and plenty of stuff to check out
Elmwood Magic -
http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/ - Good prices as well. Better inventory than Penguin - you'll find TONS of stuff here.
UK-based
Magic Box -
http://www.magicbox.uk.com/ - I've never ordered from there, but I've looked around quite a bit. Some good stuff here.
Magic Shop UK -
http://www.magicshop.co.uk/ - Another good place.
That's just a few. Penguin has a uk-based shop in case you live in Europe. There are many, MANY more.
As for some ideas on where to start:
DVD
Born to Perform - Oz Pearlman (HA! Beat you, Katriel!) - Great DVD for beginners. Teaches basic sleights and card handling techniques as well as some killer effects.
Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Sleights - You name it, it's in here. Multiple volumes that will make you go broke faster than a stock market crash, but it's literally JAMMED with knowledge. You cannot go wrong with any or all of these dvd's.
Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Card Miracles (vol. 1-9) - Though it's not too difficult to pick up, it would be best to have some experience under your belt for these. However, if you're up for it, this is a tremendous resource for card magic.
Books
Royal Road to Card Magic - Jean Hugard - Great start for any card man.
Card College Series (5 volumes) - Roberto Giobbi - A collection of sleights, theory, effects, and presentational concepts. I would dare say that anyone who wants to do card magic HAS to own this set.
Those should get you started. Again, look around - you'll find plenty of information to help you on your way. If you'd like to discuss any of these in more detail, feel free to pm me. Welcome to Talk Magic.
