The Snap Over Change

Postby ultimatecreate » Sep 22nd, '05, 17:40

Hey all!

Ive recently bought a lovely little routine from kaymar magic (soon to be closing  ) in upminster, Essex. Its called Heartless and uses the ambitious card routine with an awsome little finisher. Theres just one little move that the instructions are a bit vague on :?
Its called the snap over change (not to be confused with the snap change) in which it seems 2 cards - back to back - are quickly flipped over using the thumb and forefinger.
Can any1 tell me, or give me any help at all with this sleight - magic is quite new to me and any help any1 can provide will be GREATLY appreciated.

Many thanks!

Alex

This move is also known as Shapeshifter if it is the one I am thinking of. The trick is a slight delay between releasing the card with finger and thumb, i.e. don't just snap it, but bend, release thumb, let finger follow through a little bafore losing contact with the corner of the card. Practice like that and you should get it working ok.

I think you are talking about a move I use on my "Jazz Aces". Check out my routine on my site, and I believe you will figure out how to do it. It's pretty easy, really.

I have an Oz-Peralman clip that i found in my archive yesterday for 'Joker's Wild' ... he goes through this move in some depth there i think.

If you watch the move..........you will see the positioning of fingers, etc....I found at first I was making a gentle bend, and have found it to be more effetive with a good hard bend, and let it snap by releasing the thumb first......practice, practice, practice......

Success! Mastered the move! Many thanks guys, been practising this A LOT for a few days now - any suggestions as to how to stop the card that is snapped over as from peeking out, thus ruining the effect? I find it can be a 'mystical' experience for the audience if the cards are waved about a bit when the change happens, which also helps cover the back card sticking out. But is there a good technique of avoiding this?

Thankyou! ;)
