Does anybody have any views on downloaded tricks? Are there some sources better than others? I have been shy of buying them so far, I suppose I feel that I am getting more for my money if it comes in the post rather than downloading to a printer!

Now a really dumb question. What would be my best source for getting hold of the Elmsley Count. Royal Road doesn't cover it. Can it be bought on its own?

You can see I am still fairly new to this game!

the elmsley count isnt in the royal road simply because it wasnt invented when the royal road was published! a good source for the elmsley is "Cuts Counts and subtlties" by Jerry Mentzer it describes the elmsley and almost every other false count you'll ever need for packet tricks. if i remember correctly its less than a tenner so theres no excuse not to have it!

Mog's right, of course, and you can also check out the Techno Card Magic booklet ( http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=4507 ) which teaches the EC as well as numerous other moves. Less than £8 plus P&P at the moment.

Downloads come in various guises and some, such as Some More Tricks by Anthony Owen mentioned elsewhere this morning, can't be printed. Others require passwords whereas there are plenty which require nothing but your trusty printer. As with most things, whether the contents are of value will depend on the individual and what they're looking for - all I can say is try one or two which are at the top of your CUPS list and see what you think. Personally, I like 'em! Also bear in mind that downloads are usually 'delivered' with only a short delay - and there's no P&P to pay!

Thanks both. Counts, Cuts etc now ordered from Magic Gadget, £7 plus p&P.

I will peruse the downloads as you suggest and try one. This process takes CUPS to a new level for me. Internet ordering is dangerously easy, internet ordering with instant delivery sounds like it could start to cost me!

I really must find something cheaper to do with my lunchtime!

I have just downloaded Revolver as a taster of downloads. I did read the review first and watched the video dem.

It is a terrific trick and I have become a great fan of Oz Pearlman since getting Born to perform.

Thank you both for your help today. I know what I will be practising tonight now!

I think I'll have that printed, framed, and displayed right next to the computer!

By the way, I think that NFW and Twisted Sisters, if you buy them from PM, come with downloadable videos for the Elmsley. It's the fingertip version but then again if you get in our very own MO area there are several tutorials for the deep elmsley in the Tutorial File Sharing forum...

Thanks, I will bear that in mind. The book may well have been delivered today but if the postman can't get it through the letter box it will be a Saturday pick up. Good weekend reading though
