DLs with four cards

By this, i do not mean turning over 4 cards, i mean performing a DL when you only have 4 in your hand. I need to do this for an effect and i am having trouble performing this one move! and i dont know why because i can do a DL quite competently with a whole deck in my hand! Does anybody have any advice on this please?
