Real magic

Postby stuartorwell » Oct 7th, '05, 07:51

Where can I talk to someone about real magic. Possessions, direct access to spirits - this kind of thing. Not sure this forum is ideal for this. Anyway, any suggestions would be welcome

Nope, this forum certainly isn't ideal for this, in fact it is completely wrong!

I would suggest you try the alternative spelling of magic as magick or something like that. You will probably find a load of new age nonsense before you find any kind of useful historical references or the like.

Having worked for Samaritans, visiting people who have played with magick or whatever yu want to call it (seances, ouila boards, table rapping, etc.) I'd actually say "Don't bother."

Too many people open doors and play with stuff they don't understand and then wonder why it turn around and bites them on the bottom!

Keep well away is my advice.

This not the place by the sound of it - rabbits and top hats and that kind of stuff.

If anyone else is reading this. I'm promoting nothing and would advise anyone who is curious not to get into it.

Well, we like to think that we're a little more sophisticated and versatile than just that but you're on the right lines!
We've had a few folks visit before who were seeking the non-conjuring type of Magick, the last guy as seeking something on Paganism if I remember rightly, but we never heard if he found what he was after. Whilst this topic is 'live' I'd perhaps venture to suggest (and throw open for discussion) that matters supernatural are likely to be treated with scepticism by many on TM as we're well aware of how straightforward and convincing it can be to produce apparently supernatural results by very ordinary means. Personally I'd never completely dismiss the supernatural but any such effects would have to be very, very convincing! Just my fourpenn'orth :D .

talking on this subject i must say when i was in india a few years ago, we had a magician visit the village, he was alien tothe village.....

he sat on the ground, which is made of pure concrete, thisis where we always play ie football and etc so i know for a fact there was nothing there (hidden trap doors or anything)

He then called one of my family members to sit about 8 feet away from him, and told him to ask for what ever he wants, my cousin said a new suit, a new stereo player (a big one) and cloths and more cloths..... and he without any lies and i swear he produced stack of clothing and electronic stuff, there was no link between my cousin and him and even if there was he couldnt have produced all thease item from his sleeve or even under the sheet of where he was producing these goods from, it was real real good

there was talks of supernatural power there of some sort,

how it happened i would never know it was fantastic

Having been called out to a house where glasses rattled and shattered in a glass cabinet after an evening's ouija party I'm afraid that things do go on which we can't explain and shouldn't get involved with either!

(My supervisor at Uni' was editor of the 'Unexplained' and Chair of Council for Psychic Research and boy did he get into some weird theories :-) ).

Anyone reading this would do better by fooling an audiences' five senses to believe that they had a sixth rather than try getting one by dabbling!

I think it's all a load of bulls**t, all that psychic/spiritualism garbage.
It just shows how easilly people can be deceived, if they believe in ouija boards etc. With just a little bit of research, they can find out how these things really work. It's amazing how ready and willing people are to accept what they are told, and never ask questions.

I think it is always wise to be careful when completely rejecting an idea. Personally I am sceptical about a lot of stuff, particularly those who claim phsychic powers, however, there is no reason to scientifically write of certain ideas such as telepathy.

I put my computers mouse on a ouija board at night and in the morning all my contracts are done for me!
