Magic Shops in London - which one? !!

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Oct 9th, '05, 12:27

Hi everyone,

I have to go to Central London tomorrow for a meeting. I will have an hour or so to kill afterwards so I was planning to visit a magic shop - but which one??? !!!

I haven't been to any in London before. I'm predominantly into card magic (if that helps with the suggestions!)

Can someone suggest a good shop to visit? !

Thanks for your help.

:D

Dependes where meeting is - Davenports are in Charing Cross Station underground station and International Magic are near to Chancery Lane, Farringdon and Russell Square stations, situated at the very end of Leather lane at Junction of same and Clerkenwell Road.

Hope this of some use,

Vic

Thanks guys - I'll give Davenports a go I think, as I'm quite close to that.

Cheers!

I'll drop by later and let you know which items got the better of my CUPS detox! :D

I would choose International every time. Whenever I am in London for meetings or anything, I will go out of my way to visit International even if I am right near Davenports.

I am mainly into cards, and personally think that International caters more for cards/close up. If you are lucky, Jerry Sadowitz may be working. He can show you some great effects with cards that you will find inspiring!

The advice at International has always been spot on for me. I have never made a purchase at IM that I have regretted.

Jerry works in International Magic. If you think he is "pretty good" go and see him, and you WILL come away thinking that he is VERY VERY good!

Jerry! & Blackpool

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Oct 14th, '05, 08:56

Wish I'd read these last few replies before I went!

I really like Jerry's material - right, I feel another trip to London in the planning!

Anyway, thanks for your posts. I did go to Davenports and unfortunately I managed to have a temporary cure of CUPS, and only walked out with one item! I came away with Jay Sankey’s “Prediction Impossible” (I’ll review it soon, if it’s not been done – or add to the existing one). It was as I expected, but I was keen to see Jay’s teaching techniques and presentation ideas.

Anyway, I’m off to Blackpool this evening for the weekend and wondered if someone could recommend a good magic shop there? (I’m also hoping to catch the Mistique show, if it’s still on). I seem to remember someone telling me that there were a couple of places that sell magic, but one is better than the other. Is that correct?

Cheers!
