Hello from Switzerland

Postby Mago05 » Oct 7th, '05, 11:18

Hello everybody!

It seems that this is a very nice forum. I feel very confortable here, because I don´t have any magic buddies around. In Switzerland, Magic is not so popular, comparing to other countries. But it also has its advantages...most people haven´t seen the magic that I do before. So many of them think Im gonna do a ordenary trick. The ones that everybody konws about, you know. But I love the surpising effect later on!

Mainly I do close-up magic and street magic. I just love doing magic for someone, because of the reactions you get.

I got into magic about 7 month ago, during a stay in Vancouver. I improved my English there, but still there are some mistakes - sorry about that  (Maybe I learned more magic than English...)

Probably, Im just another one, who was inspired by David Blaine. It was a very nice and hot Sunday and I wanted to go outside (Standly Park or something...) But than there was this guy on TV. I was completely hooked for 3 hours, even though I wanted to go out. I really doubted about what´s reality. I was so confused this day :?
Two days later I was in a mall and I walked by a magic store. Without thinking and before I knew it, I was in there. It was like a magic magnet to me, that pulled me on.

Now I know that David is not that good in magic. Or centainly not as good as he ranks himself. But apart from all this critics, Im very grateful. He opened up a whole new world for me. And he made many people thinking, freaking out and much much more. Thats why I dont think its fair, to criticize him, just because a TV specials with Leonardo...

Anyway, I noticed that some of you know how to speak German. I didnt expect that at all. Wow! Feel free to write me in German

I´m looking forward to have some good discussions and a great time here at TM.

Magically,
Mago05

Hi Mago, welcome to TM! (Sorry, I'm not one of the German speakers!) Which part of Switzerland are you from?

Hi Mago and welcome.

You've posted a really good introduction and your English is impressive, in fact it is better than some of the English people here.

I will look forward to reading your posts.

Hello Mago

Welcome to the board, I have visited St Gallen a couple of times as my Rugby team from Cardiff competes in the annual Rugby Tournament there most years.

The city council allows us to stay in one of the nuclear bunkers by a playing fields on the outskirts of town for a few nights to save costs, they just chuck us the key and we have the run of an entire underground complex complete with kitchen, showering, and dormitory facilities all behind 2 foot thick concrete lined doors for the weekend, its the most unusual and secure accomodation that I've ever stayed in.

It sounds pretty grim but is a great laugh and we always have a great time over there, St Gallen is a pretty nice place and we always look forward to competing and the socialising there and find the locals friendly.
