I have heard of people using talcum powder (guess it makes them smell nice!) Flour (dont get them wet though otherwise it turns to glue) or someone told me builders chalk? Never powdered myself though...

I'd just say getting some fanning powder. It's quite cheap because all you need to powder your deck is one little dash. There's a secret to powdering the deck that saves you a lot of powder. The instructions given on the fanning powder box is not good and wastes a lot of powder. If you plan to buy fanning powder, feel free to PM me to give you the little secret that saves you powder.

If you can’t get hold of Fanning Powder then French Chalk as supplied by Home Depots and Builders' Supply stores will do the job. The downside is that it's usually sold in large cartons and will probably take decades to use! Stores selling stuff to do with dancing might be able to supply as it's used to out a nice slippery finish on dance floors.

I bought a tupperware sandwich box from Asda for about 90p and put my cqards and powder in there. A few shakes (not too hard as it will blunt the corners of the cards) and the cards get a good andeven dusting.

Leave the dust to settle for 30 mins before removing the lid and then brush off any excess back into the tub and then seal again for next time.

I had thought of trying things like talc and flour ... but my only fear was sweaty hands! ... end all pastey ... ever seen the episode of friends with Ross and his leather trousers? lol

Unperfumed talc/Baby powder does the same trick but you need to be very sparing with it otherwise every time you riffle the deck, you disappear in a cloud of talc. Nice effect but not if you want to do a card miracle!
