I just thought that I would pass this on and the review section seems the best place.

There are marked cards and marked cards and having used a few I can recommend those made by a man called pend1466 on ebay. They are the best I've seen.

Review

He uses an easy to remember system. It took me 10 minutes to learn and about an hour to get to read them fast. They are marked so subtly that other magicians have inspected them without seeing the mark and I am very comforatable to let a member of the public inspect them for as long as they like to prove they are a normal deck.

No one has ever spotted the markings and I have been using them for 6 months now.

You do need good eyesight to work with them well.

Overall

If I'm not planning any magic, its the only thing I carry.

I have a set of "3D" cards in which each carda value is in 3d (magic eye) so all you need to do is cross your eves and you can see the value i dno where to get em from like.. cos i got mine from a charity shop.. not like i go in them or anything

I bought these cards a while back & yes they are good, however they've just sat in the draw as I haven't really come accross any decent tricks using marked cards.

Johnny Bravo - you might want to check out "Hidden in Plain Sight" by Kirk Charles with Boris Wild

It's a book that not only offers some effects that use a marked deck (the book was written as a companion to the Boris Wild Marked deck, but all of the routines can be used with any marked deck). It also goes into theory and psychology of marked decks, which gives you the insight to start coming up with your own ideas.

Yeah I've had the same problem Johnny, my use of marked decks has only gone as far as them picking a card then me telling them what it is, which is a lame trick. Although I think the potential for tricks is huge, plus you never lose in poker again

Would this method of marking work effectively using Bicycle Bridge-size? Any replies would be appreciated.

The trick I like to do is this one!

Marked cards a simple trick I do with em is get the person to pick a card (give em the pack and tell them to find one the like and put it on the table!)

You take a card have a look at it and put it flat on the table whilst doing this have a look at the mark so you know what they have!!

Put both cards in the pack let the person shuffel and cut find there card in the pack the get them to pick you card put it on the table and then tell them what card you picked (not the actual 1 but the on the have on the table By reading the mark!!!)

Hope this is clear but works well confused my sister who has grown up with my cheating! You do have to do a few flashy moves or it can look to amazeing!

That is a very nice trick, but you can do that without marked cards. That is why I don't like them, because you can do most things using a normal deck, just by forcing, and you can get a really good mind reading effect by using a simple backslip!

Ace of Kev - that's actually not true. Yes, you can use the force to know THEIR selected card, but you can't perform the kicker ending with the final card, at least not in the manner Stu referred to.

Remember - the deck is shuffled, and the spectator chooses ANY card. Without ever seeing the face, the performer says "I chose the 10 of spades" The spectator won't know what to think.

You can't pull off that clean and impossible a finish with a normal deck.

Yes, you can force both cards - but it's not about how it's easier - it's the fact that with a marked deck, you don't have to touch the cards. The spectator can just remove ANY card they feel like removing.

Using a regular deck, you'd have to pick up the deck, glimpse a card, force it and finish. While both will hit hard, the marked version is much more powerful.
