Help with domain name please!

Postby Stephen Ward » Aug 18th, '05, 18:56

Hi guys, hope someone can help

I need to register a new domain name and have it point to another domain (in other words when someone types in a website address it will automatically go to my new website). I am not sure what hosting package i need, any ideas!

I use DomainBuster but you need the simplest package with web forwarding - I assume you don't want to host any files or have an email address at this domain which will cost you more. Anyway, have a look here for the DomainBuster page on web forwarding...

Hope that helps,

Kati

In that case I think there's a special form you have to use.

I'm not sure about the cost as the pricing is a bit complicated, but I think it's 10 pounds (gah, no pound sign...) extra for email and same for web forwarding...

All done! just set it up. Works like a dream  just need to wait 24 hours for it to go live. Thanks for the great suggestion (can't believe how easy it was to set up!)

For future needs, give 123-reg.co.uk a go.

They're owned by Pipex, who've been around since pretty much the conception of the 'consumer' internet.

123-reg domain names start as low as £5, and you have full control panel access for web forwarding (framed, unframed, masked, with meta tags etc) and absolute control over infinite and catch-all email addressess.

A superb company, offering top-notch service and support.

And no, I don't work for them, but I have been programming/designing for the internet since 1989, and they are so far the most reliable and simple (plus best value) I've seen for a while.
