Untouched, how do you feel?

Postby rcarlsen » Oct 15th, '05, 21:32

Another post in the same genre. Anyone of you guys doing "Untouched" by Daryl? I remember doing it years ago, but I have never done it lately.. Then tonight, I just watched through some old videos, and looked through it, and thought, hmm, maybe I should try it out on my girly. So, I went along, performed it, and she was pretty calm through all the act, as she's the one doing the "magic". Then, at the final reveal, she just shouted "HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!?!?!" and had those big eyes, really fooled and really annoyed taht something can be that simple, yet that amazing and strong.

I just smiled and went back to my computer ;) I think she still is annoyed...

How do you feel about Untouched?

Btw, - if you have noticed, watching alot of the magic tapes out there (like ammar tapes, malone and alot others), there are usually alot of the same persons as specs. Have you all noticed that "black" guy, who always is very surprised and lost of words? It's so funny... it's like, if you ever wonder if any of the tricks on the tapes are any good (the effect), just watch his reaction. On Untouched, his lower lip is far down, and there is no sound from him. Nothing. Pretty unusual, for him :-)

I have never seen this effect? It sounds cool, especially if you it can fool our other halves that do build up a resistance to magical effects!

I know what you mean about the same people in the LL publishing Vids DVD's. The black guys name is david, and he always sits in the same place! Either he has been doing it a while, or maybe his son goes along in his place at times! :)

Personally, I like this effect. It doesn't get any easier and it's still powerful. Daryl's method also makes it that much stronger, since the "move" required to pull it off is so subtle and done so openly and without intent, that it is never questioned, even after the effect is over.

I don't use it very often, but I still dust it off and show people now and again. Great effect.

Yeah, but to be honest, I will start to use this effect much more often. Expecially if you have specs that typically say "oh, he's so fast with his hands... blablabla". To proove that magic can happen, without your inteference, go with this effect. It's strong.

Talking about this trick, how do you guys solve the following problem:

The two top cards are Jack of hearts, 4 of hearts.....
(or any similar "problem")

PM me...

I'll be your spectator, Rune - I just need you to front me the money for a ticket to Norway. That's not a problem is it???

I can't remember the "out" mentioned on the Ammar dvd's - but I think he covers a way to get around the problem you mentioned. I don't really do much with it - if I notice the problem right away, I might just grab a few cards here and there, talking about how I can pick any card from anywhere, then replace them and have them re-spread. Or, I can tell them I really want the deck to be completely random - and have them shuffle one more time. So long as you don't draw a great deal of attention to it, it shouldn't be a problem.

Ok, for all you others - get this effect into your routine. It's really worth it, and since it's so easy to perform (almost self working), you shouldn't really consider anything else. Just performed it last night again, with great response. I performed several other effects as well, like Between the Palms, with the card ending up in my back pocket. With great response as well, but even the easy and mysterious untouched topped that response.

Add some great patter, maybe even make it more like a mental trick, and you will get enroumous reponse. Make sure you your patter suits and builds up a nice surprise, and you will be there :-)

I'm with Charles on that one. I don't see how Untouched and Paperclipped are similar.

If you mean similar in that they are CARD TRICKS, sure - but that's about where it ends.
