Hi. A few weeks ago I bought Paul Zenon's "Street Magic" on a whim. Now I have Bobo on coins, The Royal Road to Card Magic etc etc etc.
This chance purchase has rekindled a childhood interest started by the tricks my Dad did at family xmas gatherings etc.
Poor Dad! We used to think it was really clever to give the game away if we knew the method!!! Now I am a lot older (43) & slightly wiser!
Nowadays I appreciate the value of an ingenious method, but I am more concerned with the psychology of misdirection.
I am a bit prone to CUPS (Compulsory Unnecessary Purchase Syndrome); but I also like to solve problems on my own. Quite often I guess a method from watching a demo clip a few times.
Looking forward to learning some tips on here, but don't worry I won't ask how is done!!!

Hi and welcome.

I have some bad news for you. You can't be "a bit prone to CUPS". It is all consuming and incurable. And it certainly sounds like you have it!

So just sit back and enjoy it!

Welcome to TM!

And I wish that I had CUPS. The reason I don't is that I have zero pennies :D

Welcome to Talk Magic. I saw that Paul Zenon book in Barnes and Noble the other day. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to check it out.

What do you think of it? Is the stuff in there more advanced, or is it more a beginners book?

It's a beginner's book I suppose but got some nice stuff in it. The chapters progress from easy self-working through to moderate sleights. It's nice quality, good photos, clear explanations and a good variety of effects. He also describes some basic gimmicks (pull, TT, etc).
I don't think an experienced magician would get anything new out of it - but at £15 it might be a nice present to give to someone else?
