I agree - it is a brilliant routine. For me this routine looks a lot more natural than Ammar's routine. I've taken bits from both routines and come up with my own. It's by no means better than Pinnacle or Ring-band-it - it just suits me better. If I was forced to choose between Ammar's routine and Pinnacle - i would go for Pinnacle. One of the moves where the ring penetrates the band is so visible, I watched it over and over again going "no way". If you're into rubber band magic this is a must-have :)

Hi all,

I'm totally new here, and just registered. Merely to get some reactions on the following:
I saw Pinnacle last week and though I'm NOT a professional magician, I watched the video (the demo!!!) a few times in slow-motion and (exept for the ending you call 'miracle finish') managed to reproduce the effect in exactly the same way.
The only thing I did was play it frame by frame and practice.

I only know a few card tricks and the crazyman's handcuffs and never made a penny with magic.

I'd like to know if any of all you magicians out there has tried this, or is it usual to just buy an effect and not try to figure it out by yourself?

Of course there will be people saying this is not possible butI truely DID find out how to do the routine.

Regards,
Marcel

Nah, it's quite a common thing to figure out an effect from the demo videos. However, if you use an effect that you figured out like this, it's considered courtesy to the inventor to buy it, so he gets the royalties.

I agree with katrielalex. In fact - I bought the routine and then tried to figure it out while I waited for it to arrive. When you've been in magic a while you tend to figure things out quite quickly - but you have to give credit to the people who think about it first.

A lot of times when I buy a book or a dvd - it's not so much the method I'm after. Watching someone else performing something or hearing their take on it makes you think of things you may not have thought of before.
