try soaking it in washing up liquid and hot water to ease off any trapped dust.
if that dosnt help try puting it in the freezer for a bit or warming it gently in the oven, you want things to expand and contract at a slightly different rate if you get my drift.

i see well i don't normaly recomend this but as your unit has gone against the grain so to speak, load it into its b/ring cover it with a pad and hit it with a hammer, try first with a repeating stroke to see if it will jar free, i you get no joy then you will have to increase the thud untill it goes or it splits sorry

in any case soaking it in wd40 or similar will aid your endevers greatly, the same thing happened to me on two ocassion's the first time it came off and the second time it split, so be prepared to order a second one just in case. :D

Can I suggest that before you bang it with a hammer (even lightly) you put something over the coin surface, such as a double folded duster to try and protect the surface that you're hitting.

I'd try a few light taps onto a punch around the edge and centre of the coin

I was able to purchase a b/ring separately ... from Hank Lee .. for just a couple bucks ... but I must admit I never had this particular problem. Soaking it in a light machine oil like WD-40 and then shaking it in a glass may work and the oil won't hurt the metal.

Try gluing a piece of wood to the face of the stuck coin with PVA glue, or even 1 piece to each coin. Let them set overnight and then use them as handles to pull the 2 pieces appart. After they are free soak the pieces in water for a couple of hours and the wood will drop off.

If the glue joint breaks while pulling them appart glue some large dowel on so you get a larger gluing surface.

If you return it, yo may find that the suppoer rejects it and sends it right back to you as you've put it back in the wrong way, not them.

You could ask them politely of course?
