Linking Rings Help

Postby dat8962 » Nov 2nd, '05, 15:26

This may seem like a daft question but here goes.

I've recently bought some Ninja rings and the Shoot Ogawa DVD and have now got the routine up to a standard where I'm ready to perform in front of an audience.

What I was wondering is whether the handling taught for the Ninja rings is the same, or similar as those that are used for performing with a full size set of linking rings?

Playing around with a full size set, I've noticed that some of the moves taught in the Ninja routine work quite well but some don't (particularly the crash ring). I suspect that how and where you hold the key ring may well make the difference and it's then down to practice.

The answer may sound obvious but the obvious way isn't always the right way

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I have used crash linking and throw linking to great effect with normal rings, but I have not managed to use the one handed linking with larger rings yet.

I would think that all of the moves should be pretty much transferable with practice.

Cogito, ergo sum.
Cogito sumere potum alterum.

they are but you will have to adapt some of the moves due to the size of the ring.

Thanks, as I suspected but still nice to know

The one handed link I found to be the hardest with the Ninja's. Many said that it would be the spinning link but I found this to be relatively easy for some strange reason. I haven't attempted the one hand link with the full size set just yet

I know what you mean Magicdiscoman about the size of the rings. I have enormous hands at the best of times but still find the full size rings a challenge to hold steady :?

Anyway, I suppose that as always it's practice, practice and more practice
