2/3

The trickiest thing with this effect in my opinion is the multiple fans of the cards (two in total). Some handling required but nothing a little practice won’t sort.

Review

This is a great effect - it’s simple and in my opinion should be performed with as little patter as possible - it’s so visual I almost fooled myself practicing it that the magic really does speak for itself. You end clean and everything can be examined. Brilliant.

You don’t have to be wearing a tie to perform this effect - I’ve tried it on my shirt and it works fine although I do think a tie is better - but not essential. What’s more you can walk around with the pin in your tie as it’s not very noticeable unless you draw attention to it, and even if people do spot it they’re not going to think that you should be taken away by the men in white coats...it’s acceptable. A moment’s set-up and you’re ready to go.

When I watched the video of the effect I just couldn’t believe it. It looks impossible. If you can get the handling smooth you have a gem of an effect. If you have trouble with the multiple fans there is an alternative method in the instructions which is easier but not as effective.

And now we come to the instructions - this is a French effect and as such the instructions have been translated in to English adequately - not brilliantly but they’re good enough to learn the method and handling with no problems.

Overall? A tad overpriced for what you get, if it were a few quid cheaper then this would be incredible value for money, but in my opinion the effect is worth the price. Watch the video if you can and I think you’ll agree.

Their signed card, lost in the deck suddenly seen to be attached to the pin on your tie which you then have to rip off before you can give it to them? That’s impressive, and it all happens with virtually no moves - fan cards and in an instant it’s pinned.

Recommended, especially for walkaround although there are a few minor angle considerations (that is to the side of you).

8/10

Yes, sorry Mandrake - found it on Davenports and have ammended my original review (with price). I paid £16 from Alakazam, but they don't seem to stock it now. £3 more from Davenports, which I think is pushing it a bit, but in my opinion if you like the sound of the effect you'll probably be pleased with your purchase.

Dale, what is it about the effect you don't like? I'm curious to know because I think this it's fantastic.

$9 at The Magic Warehouse http://www.themagicwarehouse.com/cards18.html and scroll down a bit

Umm...

I've already posted the price details and where it's available from in my original review (see my second post in this thread)...

:?:

For $9 though I think it's worth it.

Yes, the replies sort of crossed in the post! At least it bears out your original purchase price - $9 from the Magic Warehouse must be a limited sell off of surplus stock so, unless they had shedloads of them to start with, might not necessarily be able to supply - I'm tempted to try them though!

Anyway, it seems like a nice effect, from the way the cards are held and presented for signing I think I can take a guess at one way of doing the illusion and I'd imagine it might be a nice one for table hopping, restaurant work and that kind of thing.

Ah, okay then.

Yes I think it would be good for restaurant magic - it's visual (ideas for incorporating it with some flashpaper are included as well) and, I think, a stunner. Although I did forget to mention in my original post there is some reset time...roughly around 30 seconds...it's still worth it though in my opinion.

Hmmmm, looking at the vid, I don't think you can undu the pin and remove the card in front of the spectators so it falls into the old, 'I have to go to the loo' effect !!

Can't say its something I'd use :?

you rip the card from the pin, to show that it was impaled.
this enables you to ditch the gimmick.

so, you are clean.
