Postby Kemo » Nov 1st, '05, 22:58

Latly I've be practicing the Back-Hand Vanish(no clue if thats the right name) I'm getting pretty good at it. Aside from the one aspect that a small part can still be seen between my pinky and ring finger. Any tips on how to correct this little aspect?

thanks

I ordered them about 3 months ago but I guess they got lost in the mail. Also I heard the goverment frowns upon stealing other peoples hands while they sleep. So it looks like I'm sh*t out of luck.

I think it is called the Goshman Pinch... isn't it? (someone correct me if thats wrong.)

Whatever it is I have been working on it too, and I have not been having this particular problem, but I have noticed that when some people do this they hold their pinky finger back slightly, behind the ring finger.

Maybe this is a measure in an attempt to remedy the problem you have been having.

You're talking about back-palming I guess?

Well, don't worry too much about those bits showing, we all get it from time to time. I learnt to back-palm from the Jeff McBride videos, and here's what he says about it.

You should be using a certain type of card. There are manipulation decks out there that have flesh-coloured backs, but Jeff uses red-backed Bee cards on the video. The reason is when you back-palm, the back of the card is red and white with no borders. The trick to back-palming is to keep your hand in motion, so that the colours of the back of the card blend in with the colour of your skin.

Try it in front of the mirror. Keep your hand moving, and you won't notice the card peeking out. But stop your hand, and it becomes plain to see.

Hope this helps in some small way.

i see what you mean by the continous(sp?) movment hiding the tip. but you are kinda limited to where you can move your hand. like you can move it up and down or back and forth. but you have to make sure you don't tilt your hand or you will flash the card. and your tips did help a little mark. and jeremy we are talking about cards... well i am i hope mark is too

Yup, I was talking cards too!

If you want to explore back-palming and productions of cards more thoroughly, then I can recommend volumes 1 & 2 of Jeff McBrides Art Of Card Manipulation.

He goes into a lot of detail, discussing angles and movement, different ways of producing the cards, and even how to prepare the cards for card manipulation.

Cheers,

As long as you keep your hands in movement, the flash of cards shouldn't be a problem.
