Mind Reading Tricks Vol. 1

Postby longislandiced » Nov 2nd, '05, 04:11

Hi guys

Has anyone read this e-book available from here? It seems like decent value at ten squid.

http://www.magicseduction.net/

I know all the tricks are bits and pieces available elsewhere (and rip offs of Derren Brown), but there are two in particular that I am curious about, those being:

Invisible Touch:
I’ve had a lot of fun in the clubs with this effect. Imagine walking up to a beautiful woman and causing her to feel a real touch on her hand, even if you’re stood a distance away. Even better, her best friend and everyone else in the room will agree, you (nor anyone else) where anywhere near her when she felt the touch. Based on the same principle as Psychokinetic Touches by Banachek, Derren Brown performed a variation of this on his Mind Control show.

And:

PIN Number Revelation:
This will really freak people out! Imagine if someone walked up to you and was able to reveal your PIN number for your bank account - that’s exactly what you can do in this effect. Just by looking at a persons eyes you write a prediction of their PIN number. What’s written on the paper matches their PIN. What’s more, this can be done to reveal surnames, names of pets - any sort of personal information you wouldn’t normally know!

It doesn't look too bad from the website.

If it's only a tenner, and you're going to use 2 effects from the ebook in your act, or down the pub, then that's only a fiver a trick, which is pretty good value.

You're then getting all the others as bonuses!

I personally do not recommend these kinds of e-books. They are usually somewhat misleading with their descriptions, and are often poorly written. I would highly suggest you just go out and get Corinda's 13 steps to mentalism. It is a bit more expensive, but has thousands more to learn from it. It includes one of the effects you picked out. Secondly, I would recommend getting a copy of PK touches. It will have a more thorough explaination of how to perform the other trick you highlighted. You could get both of those for maybe 30-40 quid. Sure, thats a bit more than that ebook, but you would be well more equiped. Pretty much the only effect you wouldn't get out of the magic book is the NLP style tricks. But they are based on VERY VERY basic NLP ideas that are readily availible for free on the internet if you look in the right spot.

I say all this because when I first moved here from the states, that is when I first found Derren Brown and I bought an E-Book that was the exact same almost, but it was more expensive. I was pretty let down. Infact, on ebay you can get e-books for about 99p that teach most of that information.

It is unfortunate, but I still highly suggest 13 steps if you are at all interested in mentalism and Derren Brown stuff.

Don't mean to discourage you. Go for it if you want it. That is just my opinion.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I take your point on 13 steps - I do have a copy and it is very very good.

I agree that there is an awesome amount of info in it, I guess the problem I find with it is that the patter is quite old and outdated. I am acknowledging my own shortcomings here; as I'm new to this and am still looking for newer material to help build my knowledge.

Like probably everyone on this site I'm love Derren's work, in particular the style and presentation. I don't think for one second that by buying a couple of books I'll be able to pull it off - but hey you have to start somewhere right?

With this e-book I guess I figured that it's about the same price as PK touches so hey it might be worth ago. I'll be curious to hear from anyone who has read it.

If I do take the plunge I'll post a review.

Once again thanks to those you reply - I've learned heaps just by browsing on this site.
