recommend a deck... question about decks

Postby Xzwer » Oct 24th, '05, 23:56

i want to buy one ore more decks from ellusionist but some of the decks does not realy make any sense to me at all...

Decks that blow my mind and i don`t understand:
army of 65 GAFF

black Hover Deck

the Exchange deck

can somebody explain why and how?! i got so confused watching the preview movies to those decks..

what series is best to choose? ghost or tiger?

if i give my deck out for examination.... do they notice something? what deck is the most chance that people find out of?

is it something special about the Black Tiger Deck, Circle Back Viper Deck? and what do they mean about a regular ghost deck? cause they have a limited offer that gives you both of those decks for half a price if you buy a regular ghost deck..

and last question.. what deck dou you prefer and recommend?

Then you need to buy them and find out. Sorry, but it is a harsh world. We would all help but you could start by checking the reviews.

Much love.

Ok first off, if your new to magic, don't even touch black tigers or ghost decks. I've been around magic for quite awhile now and have yet to buy either one. But if you really want one, they shouldn't be to much off a problem. But my advice is to start off with basic ordinary Blue/Red bicycle packs. Sure, go ahead and buy some gimicked ones such as:

Svengali, Invisible, Brain Wave, Rising, Haunted, Stripper, ect.

These can all be found a Penguin for excellent prices. but until your your an expirenced magician i recommend holding off on these ellusionist decks, especially the Gaff Deck.

With regards to the Gaff Decks most of the Gaff decks are avaliable in different guises in red and blue bikes at considerably less cost.

If you want to use the 'fancy' decks I would suggest that they are used for straight tricks with no gimmicks.

With regards to what to buy, I personally, like the Viper Circle back and the ghost deck. However I feel, that for feel and performance normal Tally Ho's are just as good, but the fancy cards do provide that stand out value.

Hope this helps.

The ghost, tally vipers and black tigers are all normal decks of cards ( 4 suits and ace, two through to king) that are printed with a special colouring and designs but apart from that, they are normal decks of cards and can be handed out. Many magicians don;t like them as they create suspicion.

When an advert states that it's an ungimmicked deck, it means that it's a normal deck of cards. Gimmicked decks typically can't be handed out for inspection and each different gimmicked deck has a different secret.

I don't see that either of these facts are classed as revelation as it is generally available to work this out from looking at the range of magic sites.

okey... but ghost decks have the same colour on the back as other ghosts? so that i can put in 3 gimmicked cards in a ghost deck and force the card on somebody and then do a move, shuffle the deck and let them see the deck or something?

Ghost decks are available as ordinary ungaffed decks as well as gaffed versions exactly the same as regular cards. The only difference is that they're printed in reversed black and white inks.

most of the time its not every single CARD that's gimmicked, its the whole DECK. so removing one card from it and forcing it in a non-gimmicked deck isn't really going to help. the only example of a deck that's gimmicked on a card level that i can think of is the marked deck, and you wouldnt force a marked card in a non-gaffed deck

I don't think that Tally-Hos are thinner...they do have several advantages though, which is why I use them when I can.

a) They are, I think, on the stiff end of the scale so they last much longer...

b) The finish is much nicer - it's not quite so slippery and much more durable...

Scudge,

The video demonstrations for pretty much all of these decks can be found on Penguin:

Svengali Deck
ID
Brain Wave Deck
Rising Card Deck
Stripper Deck

At the moment, all of these are dirt cheap on penguin so if you think they're for you then buy them now before they change their minds about these insane prices.

A video for this one can be found at MagicTricks.co.uk
Haunted Deck

By far the deck I recommend the most here is the Stripper deck. With a little imagination this deck is the most fantastic prop you'll ever get. Not only that, to any lay person it is completely examinable. What more do you want?
