For example, you have 6 cards in your hand, and you make it look like you only have 3 or 4.

Wouldn't it just be a standard Biddle Count? Just hold back the cards you want.

I think the Biddle count is what you mean although an Elmsley could also do this.
Can you give us a bit more of an idea as to what routine or effect you are wanting to produce then maybe we can help more.
