Once you start bending you'll find it hard to stop (well, you know what I mean )

i really really love bending, i don't know what it is that i love about it but i do. I'm surprised that more people don't do it.
it's a different DVD than the ones mentioned but i got one from magictricks.co.uk free for an order over £40 (possibly byrds and someone i forget) and although i didn't like the loo of the bends at first i love them now.
i just bent a bic pen for someone (i've been carrying it around for a while waiting for an opportunity) and they loved it...

In contrast to my earlier post, I instead went after Mr. Banachek's DVD. I personally didn't feel disappointed, but dude, when you learn how it's done, you just want to hit yourself at how "simple" it is. I felt the way with David Blaine's Healed & Sealed Soda. But since Morgan uses the same base method for bending, you can pretty much do his anyway. I love the boundlessness of it. Just be creative and outgoing and you can easily make new and more complext bends.

hello i am just starting out magic, and im thinking of buying the bending dvd's a couple questions i want to ask are:

1) can you use any fork, spoons, anything metal really? thick or skinny?
2) can you just pick up someone elses fork?
3) any gimmicks?

and someone said they can do this with a BIC pen.... does it have to be a gimmick bic pen or can you just go to a store and use those?

If you're just starting out magic then metal bending isn't the way to go. Metal bending is a lot more a quick trick you can learn from a dvd (although that should be said about most magic). I'd really suggest you start with the basics - and learn how to perform first. If you can get hold of a copy of "Amateur's magician's handbook" by Henry Hay that would be a good start. I think it's out of print - but can be bought from sites like abebooks.com.
I think the thing I have most against Morgan's Liquid Metal is he treats metal bending as another trick. It's a whole lot more than that..

Also bear in mind that most things like this which seem to be impromptu are nothing of the sort and are purely the result of plenty of 'pre-show preparation' - which includes BIC pens !

Here's to answer your questions.

1) Yes, you can bend Forks, Spoons, even Knifes (if your clever enough). It really boils down to one thing. If you can bend it, you can bend it with your MIND. I hope I don't ruin anything.

2) Yes, but forks that are made of steel and iron are near impossible

3) Nope, it's 100% impromptu.

Tip: Go for PK Silverware first. Then when you understand it, watch Morgan and invent your own variations. It's very open for new ideas.

Yes - you can bend keys,coins,forks,spoons,pens,nails,metal spikes etc.
It doesn't really matter what they're made of. Sometimes it's totally impromptu, sometimes you use gimmicks - however that's really not that important. With bending metal, method plays a small part in the effect. Most of the the the actual method is very simple.
If you're just starting magic - then metal bending isn't the way to go - for that reason. You'll either blow it completely or get bored very quickly.
If, however, you wish to ignore this advice then, yes, get PK Silverware, Patrick Kuffs 'metal bending - the real work',PSI series (dvd4) and a number of other works mentioned on the forum a number of times. I was going to advise you not to get Liquid Metal - while you'll get a neat trick you won't learn too much about metal bending (why it works, how to perform it etc.) - but I know that saying that won't make me too popular so I won't say it.
Bending a pen can be found in Sean Field's 'Explicit Content'.

I agree with Taneous' comment regarding Liquid Metal in that what Morgan teaches is a trick but it is a strong one at that. I must get around to buying Banacheck's DVD

I also agree that this is not for an inexperienced magician

Perhaps you should read the rules regarding exposure and rethink what you have just asked.

yeah, this is a non-exposure forum, there are a lot of exposure forums on the web, check them (i didnt say that:P)

This isn't a video - but if you want a free tutorial on metal bending go to http://www.fork-you.com. It takes a while to get it right - but well worth the effort..

I have the liquid metal. I really like it. I have one suggestion if you get this one: Make sure you use the right kind of forks. ( makes life easier)
