Acrobat Cut - I Need Some Knowledge

Postby magic_evmeister » Nov 17th, '05, 18:47

This is a cut that I put together yesterday and recorded today:

The Acrobat Cut

I was wandering if anyone has seen this cut before. If you haven't then can I claim it and call it the Acrobat Cut? I've never seen this done before and the first and last technique are something I've made myself (although it's more than possible that someone has used these techniques before).

The final part is something I came up with to finish off my version of the Molecule II because I still can't do the flip over move. When I can, I'll have the "Advanced Acrobat Cut".

So you throw the middle packet across, put the top packet on top of the middle packet, then throw the bottom packet into the air, catch it again, in the same hand, the same way round, and put the other two packets on top of it?

You've obviously practised this a lot the last couple weeks, and granted it does look pretty, but I've got to ask, in what kind of routine would you use it?

At the start of an effect, it would point the spectator's mind into thinking, "he's good with his hands, everything I'm about to see is bound to be done because he's good with his hands." At the end of an effect, it would detract any attention from the original climax, and if it was during an effect, well, I don't know.

I don't think it's something I'd use. I'm not sure if it's been 'claimed,' either.

Looks pretty cool, though. Good luck with it.

I've been trying throwing the top packet for a while but I only tried the middle packet yesterday when I devised this cut.

That's pretty much the gist of it. The reason I throw the bottom packet and catch it the same way is because at that point it's in right hand biddle grip but it needs to be in mechanics to do the "double turnover" (don't know the proper name, if there is one).

I use stuff like this to make sure I've got people's attention. If you only have half of their attention when you're beginning to show some magic (say you're in the pub showing a few people) and you do something like this people suddenly start paying alot more attention.

Thanks for the comments.

Just to be a little picky, the move is a deckflip by T.G. Murphy. I tend to like giving credits to inventors.

It's a nice flourishy move there. If you want to get some attention, I think Jerry Cestkowski's Helipcopter Cut is great to grab attention. What happens is the bottom half of the deck is thrown vertically, the deck spins around 2-4 times and lands on the top of the deck in the hand, making it a cut. Actually a really simple move.
