I been playing about with tricks (showing off in the pub) for about a month now...this one, I bought it yesterday morning and used yesterday evening (I had the tools for the gimmick lying about the house anyway). I tried it our firstly on the barman and he was so impressed that my pint magically became free. Then I tried it on my mates and they too were impressed...one of them actually just stood up and walked away in shock...its truely a gem!

Is the best "end" of the gimmick the one described in the video or can you get away with using anything else? PM me if you know of another way please.

Materials Question

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Nov 24th, '05, 14:21

Hi there,

I found this MELT reivew by chance yesterday, and in a completely justifiable bout of CUPS I purchased it.

I'm off to London on Saturday and planned to visit a magic shop or two.

Now then, rather than hunting around a hardware / hobby shop and supermarket, I thought about buying 'magic' versions of the props needed:

i.e.

Magicians *a*

and the other item that is REEL - and not one I've made up.

Is there a particular brand - expecially of the *a* that is better sutied to this trick. I've never bought or used *a* before.

If someone a) knows what I'm on about and b) has the time, could you drop me a quick PM.

Many thanks,

Excellent! & I've found a cure for CUPS!

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Nov 25th, '05, 14:46

I'm being accompanied by the future Mrs Last Deck on the Left - so I think I'll be keeping my purchases to a minimum!

You know what - that's the only cure for CUPS that I know! Somehow, all those involuntary purchase impulses just melt away when I'm with her.. and she's looking at the price tags...

Magic Shopping - best done on your own I feel!

Hmmm MELT is not for me. I got it some time ago now and have never used it. It is pretty good but the gimmick is just a bit fiddly. I just don't use it for the same reason I don't use my Raven or coin unique much any more. I like coin magic because it's spontaneous, you can just do it when ever you like, no set up no nothing. But with gimmicks you have to prepare in advance to 'do some magic'. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with having to prepare but that's not why I started coin magic. People keep mentioning revolution too. I have only performed revolution a few times too. I'm not sure why people keep comparing them to be honest. They are completely different things.

Also note that I found the quality of the video download for MELT was pretty poor, I don't think this has been mentioned before so I thought I'd say.
