The Effect

The DVD has 15 card effects on it. You get the performance and explanation for each effect. All of the effects are easy to perform and do not require any set-up. You could even perform all 15 in a row if you wish.

Review

This DVD suprised me. I was worried that the very simple nature of the tricks would result in effects that we not very good. But i am happy to say i was wrong. The effects are all good enough to include in your act. I have added about 6 of the effects to my table hopping.

Aldo explains the effects very slowly, but you need to listen carefully as English is not his first language. The camera work is excellent and you can see exactly what is going on.

There are a couple of sleights used for some effects, but Aldo explains these in very slow and easy to follow manner.

I have also got VOL 2 and 3 but want to play with the effects a bit more before reviewing.

Overall

Great for all abilities. 9/10

I like number 8 (more lies). You can adapt this trick (i will explain at the end of this post)

All kings and Queens are spread out on the table. You turn your back and the spectator thinks of one of the cards. After a few very simple 'moves' are performed you divide the packet into the two piles. You turn the left packet over and it tells the spectator if they selected a king or queen. The right hand packet is turned over and it tells then more information about their card. The process is repeated and you end up with only their selected card left.

You can adjust this to work with any cards (but you get a different effect). I tried with the names of movie stars written on card and the effect works.

Lucky card is a very good spelling trick. You will find something for everyone on these DVDs. You could even perform all 45 tricks in a row without needing to set-up the deck.

The tricks have been invented or used by many known magicians including Harry Lorayne and Marty Kayne. Effects 3,8,10,11,12,13,14,15 are by Aldo himself. You also get a demo of Aldo's Fireworks card magic show (but no explaninations)

Impromptu are my favourite kind of card tricks, but I have one question, could you do the same trick over again for the same person or would it then become obvious?

To be honest i would say it depends on which trick you are doing. Number 8 can be repeated (using different cards, as you do not need to use the Kings and Queens).

Even though I'm just a hobby magician I quickly realized that doing "Pick a card", tricks can appear very samey to the spectator unless the discovery is truly amazing and different.

I enjoy card tricks, so am always on the lookout for non-PickACard tricks. Would you recommend this DVD for people like me?
