Cleaning cards

Postby duri » Nov 24th, '05, 22:40

Hello,
I am new to magic. I bought few packs of bicycles and started practicing. I was using one pack for about 3 weeks and the cards became sticky. Is it any way to keep them slick? Is it possible to clean them?

Thanks

We've had posts similar to this before bud, and the general line of thought was that it IS possible to clean/de-stickify the cards, its just a case of whether it was really worth it, when decks of bikes are available for 89p a pack you might as well stock up.

You can keep them clean with everyday care, keep them in the case, avoid using them directly after breakfast when there is a threat of Strawberry Jam on your fingers... it has also been know that you can get "Fanning powder" that brings them back to life, alternativly a small amount of Talcon Powder, put them in a plastic container with that and shake then gently.

Hope this Helps,

Rob

Fanning Powder is not something to bring the cards back to life... They are used to stick cards together so that they fan better. To protect cards, basic care such as washing hands before use is good. Try not to use cards when your hands are really oily.

The more you riffle shuffle them the worse they get. If you get a few cards dirty then you start riffle shuffling them then they all get that dirt etc.... I could be wrong lol, however since I have stopped riffle shuffling them all the time mine stay alot more clean and last a hell of alot longer then they used to.
