First of all, what's Entertainment Magic?

And Levitation is not a genre of magic in the way the other types are.

I chose Card Magic because I feel it has the potential for being really sophisticated and elegant. There are very few elegant card workers in the world but when you see them perform you are watching something beautiful.

However, I also love to watch good stage magic because it is an area of magic I have purposely avoided so it's not spoilt by me trying to work out how everything is done. I just like to watch it for it's entertainment value.

All the best,

Will Wood

It's tricky to choose...cards were my first interest and everybody recognises them, but they've become a bit cliched and people stereotype whenever they see someone doing card magic and you have to win them over...mentalism can be a very powerful thing as it seems to defy explanation. With cards it's feasible that you're doing some kind of trickery, but with thoughts...it can be a very amazing thing mentalism.

Still, for the sheer versatility and many many effects that can be gotten from 52 pieces of pasteboard I have to go with cards. Was my first magical interest and they offer so much scope and variation.

I agree, it is a beautiful thing to see an expert card handler at work (I was thinking that a few hours ago actually) but probably not so good for magic purposes, showing off your manipulations skills and all that.

Cards!

All magic should be entertaining so I voted for Entertainment magic. Otherwise I pretty much agree with Goldfish and his summary.

What kind of magic do you like

Postby Allen Tipton » Nov 26th, '05, 14:21

:) Oh Magic Guy you ask an almost impossible question. I love Stage Magic because I've grown up in the world of Theatre and every magician, frpom close up to childrens to card magic and all the other sections need the techniques of theatre to put over an interesting, exciting, confident and controlled presentation. My real love is levitation because it always looks, when presented properly, impossible!
I wonder if you are fairly young in magic? It dawns on most of us that our interests change and develop as we progress through magic. That's why the question is impossible to answer except to say, "This is my favourite as of NOW" To develop as a performer, as an artiste you need to study, look at, appreciate and perhaps gather form, All Forms Of Magic.

What's "entertainment magic"?
Shouldn't ALL magic be entertaining?
(I realize it isn't, but still . . . )

cheers,

Cards definitely. I love cards and they love me lol.

I like impromptu card magic which I can do with any deck of cards. That's why I like cards because someone can hand me a deck of card and I do a trick.
