Dizzy Dominoes

Postby limberjack » Nov 27th, '05, 20:58

EFFECT: The dominoes switch places in the spectators hand.

COST: £9.99p from Magic by Post www.magicbypost.com
Winter 2005 catalogue (not on thier web site).

DIFFUCULTY: 3
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

REVIEW:
You show 4 dominoes 2X double fives and 2X double twos, you place a double five and a double two into the spectators hand, and the same in yours. But when you open your hand you now hold the two double fives and the spectator is now holding both double twos. You repeat the process with the same results. You finish by using only two dominoes, give the spectator a five you keep the two once again they have switched places. To finish you hand out all 4 dominoes for examination.

OVERALL:
A very neat little routine, with good spectator participation, great down the pub. The dominoes are black with gold dots (not the normal colour,) but any suspicions are soon dispelled at the end of the routine when you hand out and show they are normal dominoes, this really gets them! Nice for table hopping/close up 9/10 (would have been 10 if the dots had been white.)

Sounds like a fantatic trick. Is there any major setup and what is the difficulty you failed to mention that?

Could this be done with ordinary dominoes?

Hi mandrake, you will have to use the set provided. by the way if you are interested, you can find a video demo of part of the routine at www.abra4magic.com. You will need real player to view it. Can you let me know what you think? Thanks.

OK thanks, will check it out asap. I had a look at a Domino routine on Penguin earlier this year but noticed it had very poor reviews based on the awful cheap quality of the props supplied so didn't take it any further. I'm always on the lookout for things which aren't cards/rope/sponge balls as they can make a welcome change to any routine.
