Hello all

I have just read the review for DP. I was wondering if anyone knows if this available on DVD? The reviews made me think that this was a rare video but I thought they may have re-issued it.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Cheers

Sorry, but it is not, nor is there currently any liklihood of it being made so.

Yeah it is unfortunate. But keep an eye out for it everywhere. It is worth the search!

It's not really rare and - despite what some people seem to think - it's still available and not in danger of going oop. You can still buy it from Derren's site without any problems (if you can answer the simple question to get into the magician's area).
Personally, I have my own backup of the video on DVD (nicely chaptered), purely because VHS degrades over time. You can do it yourself with a the right hardware and software in your PC or there are places that will do transfers for you commercially although they probably won't chapter it as you might like it.
(Just for clarity: I don't advocate copying the video to DVD and then selling the video, and I fully intend to replace my home-made DVD with an official one if it is ever released)

It's a great video, but much of the material is on the advanced side (both in terms of technique and performance skills).

I frequent his site, and I cannot find the section to purchase the DVD anymore. I was trying to buy it for a long time then luckily found a person selling their copy. I dont think you can get it off his site at the moment.

It really is a cracking video - I remember the first time I saw 'Smoke' I was blown away. This was the effect he performed on Steven Fry in the TV series.

Loads and loads of excellent effects - some classics with Derren's take on them - some original creations.

As previoulsy stated this is definately at the 'advanced' end of the spectrum. Lots of missdirection and sleightage (I've just invented a new word!)

Towards the end he goes into mental card forces - which I haven't seen anywhere else.

A really great tape - 3 hours long. Just shows you what a talented guy Derren is - given his card ability AND mentalism skills.

Oh and the * take of Guy Hollingworth right at the end is hilarious!

Presuming you mean 'VHS' and not 'DVD' it can be bought here.

'Sleightage'? I like it!

Yup... Derren confirmed at the weekend that The Devils Picturebook is being re-edited for DVD as we speak.

I imagine it will sell quite well. I have it on video, but wouldn't mind it on DVD for ease of chapter/trick selection.

on a similar but unrelated note, has anyone read the biography on derren brown's website.
it's quite funny

Derren was born in 1971 in Croydon. It was a difficult birth: his mother was in Devon at the time

oh balls! i have just recieved it on VHS! if there's a bundle of extra stuff on the DVD i'll be annoyed. but if it goes by other derren brown products he'll probably leave some stuff out and stop selling the 1st edition

This is what it says on his site :

DVD Coming Soon

We are currently in the process of releasing "Devil's Picturebook" on DVD and aim to have it available somewhere near the end of November.

The DVD will be region-free and ONLY available from this website.

The cost will be £35.00 (double DVD) therefore, upon release, remaining VHS versions will go down to £20.00, so you may want to wait until then before ordering.
