Devilsticking

Postby mistress of magic » Dec 1st, '05, 15:18

Not really magic, I know, but does anyone here do devilsticking? I'm having quite a bit of trouble with getting airborne and I'm getting concerned about the amount of time I'm spending with my carpet.

Sorry I can't help. But there are numerous devilsticking forum's that offer hints tips and (and?) and other stuff.

Well, as soon as I lift the devilstick off the ground, I'm ok for a few seconds (if that sometimes), then things start to go a bit all over the place and the devilstick seems to be attempting a helecopter (as cool as that would be, I'd rather master the basics first). I'm guessing it's me not hitting it in the right place, however, my devilstick doesn't have any markings so I'm finding it difficult to keep hitting the right spot. Any tips?

balance it on your finger so you can find the center of gravity on it and put a piece or tape round it or something, make your own marks

I'm a very competent juggler of clubs, balls, hoops, diabolos etc etc but devilsticks scare me. They just don't look like they should work! Well done for giving them a go, though!

Not being a 'devilsticker,' the only advice I can give you would be to have a look at the Butterfingerswebsite, click books, then devilstick, and buy any one or more of the four books on offer there. They range from £1 to £8, so probably something to suit your budget.

Otherwise, I suppose it's going to be fora of some kind, online.

Good luck...
