So, who else can see the smoke from Hemel Hempstead then?

It has reached and gone past Sevenoaks in the last hour or so.

Living in Harpenden, we got woken up at 6am this morning in a big way. I was fast asleep when I heard it, and thought firstly a lorry had piled into my car(?) then when I saw that had not happened, thought that a plane had crashed at Luton Airport. We went back to bed and heard a couple of duller sounds at 6.25ish?

We went out for the day at 8am and saw the news @ 7.30. Getting into the car we saw at the end of the road a huge black mushroom cloud. Driving out of Harpenden, we went past the rugby club, (5 mins down the road) and saw the flames in the air, BBC and ITN news vans driving around etc.

Thank god that so far (and I hope it stays that way) that nobody was killed, and wish those injured in the accident a speedy recovery.

I am now wondering what caused it? Lets hope it was not a fellow magic hobbyist on nights playing with flash wool/paper etc.

Indeed; it's a wonder that nobody was killed.

They say that the explosion was audible in Holland, but it didn't wake me so I must be a pretty deep sleeper.

i saw it on our local tv station, the smoke is huge!

Its just lucky it was on a Sunday I guess, did you see the state of the canteen on the tv? and the one car in the car park
