Any users of these gimmicks out there?

I've been using them as part of the act with my band and they go over great, except I have a hell of a time getting just one of them to light.

This is a pain, as it would be great to ignite on cue at the most appropriate point of the song.

Last weekend it took me over a minute, and there's only so long you can stand there clicking your fingers!

I fuel them just before the gig and light them (with a lighter) when I'm hidden behind an amp at the start of the song, to warm them up.

But it's still not really happening. Are they always this tricky? Any tips on making them easier to light?

Thanks,
Matt

There should be a little screw that adjusts the flint. Try adjusting it so that it gives you more spark.

If you have the cheap indian ones, throw them away and find a good expensive pair. Those budget ones are C.RAP.
And thats putting it mildly.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Thanks chaps - no, they were far from cheap so I'll definitely try fiddling with the screws.

I see you're in glorious Cape Town Taneous. I'm there in three weeks time - any decent magic shops/shows to take in?

A cheap piece of advice.

Fiddle with your screws if you wish. (A wasted youth is nothing new). But, advice from the old. Change your flints, dear! It's cheap and your sparks will fly! Maybe you are in the uk or maybe not but, believe me, Swans make the biggest shower! Trust me, every time I have a flick, the effect is instant and nothing short of spectacular!

Much love.

Just a quick note to say thanks guys - I tightened the screws and replaced the flints and that part of the show's certainly running a lot smoother now. Takes two or three attempts, which is perfectly acceptable in the context of the performance.

Thanks again - and Happy New Year to all!

:D
