Sparking Ring :The Funken Ring

Postby Allen Tipton » Dec 3rd, '05, 14:38

:) To alz. Don't waste any money on such an expensive item. Be happy with the Funken Ring you bought from Taurus Magic at £9:50 and reviewed it thoroughly on Talk Magic Forum 5th. June 2003. 'Electric' won't give you bigger OR better flashes. I bought one in the late 1970's at £2 and it is still going strong. The 'flint' has only been renewed about 6 times.
A GAG. My friend Val Andrews when staying with us, told me of a cheeky gag Tommy Cooper used to pull at private parties. He'd promise the ladies a 'quick flash', hands going toward his fly zipper , then changing his mind. "Later girls later" Finally he'd say "Right! Now it;s time for what I've promised you. A quick flash" Then He'd pull the zipper down and a great sparking flash came (apparently) from within the trousers. A Funken Ring. Try it if you dare..but only amongst friends.

This reminds me of another great gag Tommy used to do.
He always used to carry a tea bag in his pocket. When having a ride in a taxi he would cover it with his hand and put it in the drivers top pocket saying "Have a drink on me"
They would not see the tea bag but, on hearing the noise it made, combined with what Tommy said, presumed it was money.
Tommy was never there to see their reaction when they removed the tea bag but just knowing about it was enough for the great man.
Truly a genius.
