Cardini Change

Postby stevebo » Dec 21st, '05, 18:46

Here's my newest video. One of my favourite colour changes.

I added a little single card convincer :P. Don't think it's taught anywhere, it's just a knack that I learnt from other videos.

Also, the card spring, I use my own technique of using just my middle finger and thumb. I think this gives a better control.

Horrible frame rate. I found it hard just to watch the change. Sorry, just had to point that out.

Yeah, sorry about that. I tried to get the frame rate as high as possible by increasing the lighting but too much lighting caused alot of glare on the cards. I need a proper DV cam but (a)too expensive and (b)I need firewire for my computer.

Thanks guys. This move is taught Jean Hugard's Card Manipulations. It's a variation on Cardini's Colour Change. The spin as I said before I don't think is taught anywhere. I'm not sure.

Actually, to be honest, I didn't really learn the move from the book. I just figured it out from other's videos and assumed it was done this way. Now that I've got the book, I'm not 100% certain it's the way it's properly done. Either way, it works (in real life too).

Edit: Also, in the video, it was a bad spin. If I'm lucky, I can get around 3 spins on the single card convincer.

Edit: This video did take quite a few takes mainly because of my injury on my thumb!! A major deep cut on the thumb so handling thecards was painful indeed...

I have firewire, but (a) is the main problem for me :(

I'm sure you could just get a DV cam with a USB connection, as my iPod came with both connections, but they no longer do :?

Still, I don't really want to spend the money on it right now... Also, I think I'm putting my magic on a hold for a while until I get my studies done with.

So... two years without magic? YEAH RIGHT! lol. But I definitely won't be doing as much.

I only practice when I am on the computer or have some spare time. Hope your studies go well :D

Cardini Snap Change.

As I said, I didn't fully understand his explanation so my version is probably totally incorrect lol.
