Some nice work there.

I'm not sure what I think about the final effect. The Joker through the close-up mat might have played out stronger, if you showed that the joker was no longer the top card (if you need ideas on how to do that, pm me). The effect just didn't seem all the magical, since you never show the top card again.

Other than that, nice stuff. The 6 to 3's was very well done (the tabling of the card at the beginning was a powerful convincer to the effect). Your snap change was excellent. The 9 to Q was quick, but always a nice effect.

Your handling was fine, throughout. Great job. The only thing I'd work on, is a more convincing working of the joker through close up pad.

Good video quality for a start! Great work on the split change of the 6 and 3s.

It was good, but not great. Don't do the shapeshifter change in videos, it's just too obvious for videos. The clean up for the snap change was visible so try and work on that. I saw the steal of the card.

Your handling of cards was good but the Tent vanish, you definitely need to work on.

Well, I think all or almost all of the videos posted here are meant for lays - they are posted for comments and help. There's not much point creating an effect solely for magicians unless you are planning to work for magicians at one time or another.

MagicMan000 posted me a copy of his video yesterday and i can confirm that it is very good.

Contrary to what Stevebo said the shapeshifter change is a fine change to use on a low framerate camera, just somtimes you get unlucky. i have a couple of shapeshifter's i've taken on my webcam, i'll post them later if i get chance.

I think Kati is right about magic being for spectators, i think MagicMan took down his video because he recieved some unfair critisims from people on forum's, not TM but some of the less friendly ones.

Yeah, its true that sometimes you do get lucky. You'll have to use a bit of hand movement and less pressure on the cards for it to look good.

Thanks again for the comments Kev :D

Stevebo what is wrong with the shapeshifter chnage on my video and why is it so obvious how im doing it ???

If you use less pressure the change becomes unvisual.

The shapeshifter change is obvious in videos because you can almost always see that the card has changed position. Using the just right amount of pressure to flick it over in one quick motion is the best way because if you use alot of pressure, it tends to get obvious because you're preparing for something. Using less pressure seems like the card just suddenly changes out of nothing.

I don't agree with you Stevebo, as it is always ovbious that it changes position as we are magicians and we know what happens. If I was a lay, then I wouldn't have noticed that it had changed position in real life, or on a video camera.

And I cannot see that card spin around in that video :?

kev thats is a good point you made. If its obvious in videos which it is not then its obvious in real life and I been doing this chnage for a year and a half and not been caught out on it once.

Stevebo your saying you can almost always see the card chnage postion do you watch the video in slow motion or something because out of all the videos with shapeshifter changes including my own I have never paid any attention to the card changing positions I had never noticed it till you pointed it out lol.

Too many magicians these days watch videos on the internet and if they no how a move or chnage is done they say its obvious well it may be obvious to them because they know how its done but its not obvious to a lay person who don't know anything about magic is it.

Occasionaly if the camera takes a frame shot during the middle of the spin then it'll look a little suspect... but just as often as this happends it does not, and the change will look seemless.

The card changing place ocurs both on and off camera, its one the key descrpencies on the move, this seldom gets spotted by a lay person ... i dont think you will have issues with it atall.

I can see what you are getting at with the idea behind not bending the card to much incase it looks like prep ... but to me that is one of the nice things about the "Shape Shifter" is that you bend the corners down and as you release them the card morphs into a different one, gives the impression you are bending time and reality.

It's probably just my thing then.

I watched your video again and saw the change. It's good, but I just don't think the shapeshifter change is appropriate change for videos because of the position changing. I'm just not a huge fan of them. I love doing them in real life for real audiences. I just would never do it in a video myself.
