Ive heard a lot about this, and have no clue what it is - can some1 let me in on it :S come to assume it has something to do with buying lots of effects using them once or twice then shelfing them. Am i close?

Compulsive Unnecessary Purchase Syndrome

It can mean buying tons of stuff an letting it collect dirt, but I think the general definition of it, is anyone who buys every new thing they can get their hands on. It's a tough disease to live with. The horrific part is that it can extend to all aspects of your life.

Myself - I've been diagnosed with CUPS for the following:

Magic
Playing Cards
Books
Movies
Music
Guitars

They need support groups for this stuff!

More accurately, it's Uncontrollable rather than Unecessary as everything in magic is necessary.

(Or so I tell Mrs.M when yet another mail order parcel arrives - so for crying out loud back me up!)
