I have a little question that maybe some of you could help me out with :D

For my Christmas I got a Samsung Mini-DV VP-D352, and it recoreds great.

But when i put the stuff onto the computer, or I record directly from the cmaera into the computer the framerate is very, very, very bad, but when it is on the LCD Display thingy on the cam, or if I play it back on the cam it has a much faster framerate than on the computer

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

Thanks :D

Hmmm...how fast is your computer? That's the only thing I can think of...

As Kati said Kev.... it might just be an issue on your PC, try sending the video to someone else and see if they have the same issue.

Also it might be to do with the software you are using to capture the video onto the PC, is it compressing the video as it comes in?

No issue with the PC, its brand new

I have tried using the software that came with it and Windows Movie Maker, but it is the same

How are you connecting the DV camera to the computer?

Ideally you need to use a firewire cable for the best streaming. If you're using USB then the speeds will be generally slower. Video editing is processor hungry, even in the latest computers so make sure that all other programs that aren't needed are closed down.

See if that improves the situation, assuming that you're not using firewire

Good luck

I'm using USB 2.0, but I do have a firewire connection so I could get my dad to get me a cable for it.

I'll try closing all programmes later on, when I am not messing about with other bits and bobs

Thanks

Edit: I think I know what it is, but I can't really explain it. I'll tell you if I get it working

yeah, i was about to say it's your computer

but i may think i know what the problem is. check if your usb cable is 2.0, and checking if your computer can handle 2.0

to check the cable just look at the end and look inside the metal thing. if you see 4 metal things, its 2.0.

if all fails... use firewire.

and also close alot of prgms that are running on your computer at the time

?!~

Yeh I know. I had a think about it, and I realised that it worked perfectly on my old computer. I have been plugging the USB into the front of the computer like I used to do with my old one, but the front isn't USB 2.0. So time to phone my Dad and tell him to get me a Firewire cable :D

Edit: It is 2.0 in the front, I just checked :?

I'm not sure about using USB2 but with firewire, you can usually control the DV camcorder (forward, rewind, pause etc.) using the PC software and your mouse.
