Ghost Card

Postby Tommy_C » Dec 26th, '05, 21:11

The Effect
Ghost Card - Featured in Paul Zenons Street Magic (Page90)

Ask a spectator to pick a card from the deck (Free choice). Holding the deck upright cover it with a cloth, handkerchief or headscarf. The cloth begins to rise out of the deck, floats about a foot in the air until the performer catches it and reveals the card to be the spectators card.

Cost
Its in Street Magic by Paul Zenon so its free if you already have the book...if not then its £5.99 from The Works. Its a great book and this is just one of the many tricks you get in it.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1..some very slight manipulation of cards involved. Learn the trick and it is ready to perfrom within a couple of practices

Review
I got "Street Magic" a few weeks ago and had a quick flick through it and attempted to remember a few of the tricks. With it being Christmas it is the perfect time to perform around a fair sized group of family and friends. As a beginner to magic I was quite nervous as I only usually perform tricks (usually ones involving gimmicks) in front of a few mates down the pub. This was the first Card trick I have tried in public.

if you have been doing magic for a while then I'm sure you will a) know about this trick, and b) deem it too simple to perform...but as a Beginner this trick is superb.

The one bit of manipulation involved is so simple you can do it without even looking at the deck (with a bit of practice).

Overall

Very Simple trick which got me a great reaction from the crowd. 7/10

Hi TommyC.

Thanks for that. I think that may be a first, a review of one trick from a book or DVD. Actually I quite like that, it allows you to go in depth into the chosen effect, more so than if you were reviewing the whole thing.

I agree with pretty much everything you say about the effect and the book I have seen as low as £3.99, possibly one of the all time bargain magic books. Not as comprehensive as Einhorn's Encyclopedia, but it does have some amazing material in there. (Too damn good for muggles, thats for sure).

There is nothing to simple, or to hard to perfrom, it all depends on how you present it and how much you practice :D

Thanks for that review! I might buy that book :D
