Good point! If practical, you should use a large box with plenty of bubble wrap or other padding to keep the thing secure but to also isolate it as much as possible from surrounding 'attractive' surfaces. It might be an idea to write on the outside a simple description of the nature of the item just to make sure sensitive items aren't placed in close proximity and 'wiped'! (I'd love to see Postman Pat struggling to detach this from his van!)

If you take it boxed to the post office and post by hand, over the counter then you can tell them what's inside and they will then take care of the postage.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

It's technically ILLEGAL to send magnets of that strength through the post!

Many people do it, but to do it safely wrap it in a LOT of bubble wrap.
You won't get in trouble that way.

And don't write about the contents on the box! :D

Simply because it can affect other goods in the post.

Eg. although floppy disc are rare nowadays, back in the days they made these laws they were probably used regularly to post data/programs.
Any powerful magnets in the post with them could do a lot of expensive damage.

You can check out the Post Office site. Do a search on "magnet".

I think if it's wrapped up well then you should be ok.
