Anyone have Gerry Griffin's Lucky Sevens DVD set?

I've tried a search and can't find any reference

Hi there -
I've not seen this myself, but I have read a few reviews in the past.

I like Gerry Griffin. I have his Complete Card Magic series. I quite like his style, sort of Royal Road traditional card magic, and he comes across as a highly skilled, sophisticated card cheat – but always a Gentleman. I really like his crisp handling of the cards - very well executed - never sloppy - and to me, it is a pleasure to watch someone with that level of skill. I could imagine him demonstrating a card cheat routine, on a steamboat in the old west…

Anyway, I'm digressing! - I fancied getting this series after purchasing the CCM set - however I was put off by a number of reviews (can't remember where I read them) – but they all said that a lot of the effects require a lot of set-up – and that some required quite complicated set ups. I generally prefer non gaffed card magic.

Thanks for the Last Deck - I also noted after posting the request that it's a magic makers DVD production.

I share your like of Gerry and also your displike for set ups, much preferring to just have an ungimmicked deck of cards. You may have saved me £45

I've not seen this myself but a friend (who is actually a friend of Gerry's) told me it was "awful".

'Nuff said......

saxmad - Gosh  - from a friend too!

dat8962 - and anyone else - are there any other 'good' Gerry DVDs out there? Does anyone know of any performance DVDs? I just had a quick search but couldn't seem to find anything.

I bought the CCM set quite early on during my re-interest in magic (My first move was to buy and read The Royal Road – as suggested by TalkMagic. After this, I fancied developing my card skills further, so bought this set. However, I've since learnt all about MM and would like to think that had I known what I do now, the particular CCM set that I own would still be on the shop shelf!

As you may know I don't consider myself as a cardie (well not yet anyway).

Therefore, one of my resolutions for this year is to improve my card magic. I can perform the majority of basic and common sleights and I have a reasonably wide variety of tricks that I perform using a normal deck.

That's got me by up to now whilst I've digressed into other forms of magic. Now, I want to move up a gear with some real fancy card tricks that require a more skillful approach. I don't need to start at the beginning and I suppose that I'm more a level 3 to 4 where cards are rated.

I saw this title on Penguin on the home page (scroll down) and watching the video clips there were some real neat moves in my opinion but I don't like tricks that require a lot of set up.

Therefore, what else WOULD you 'experienced' cardies recommend?

I've got DVD's by Martin Nash, Darwin Ortiz and Lennart Green and they're ALL good.

A few of the routines are difficult but most are manageable.

Sounds like you want to get down to some serious practice, in which case these guys (and others, of course) are ideal.

Yes, I've seen Ortiz & Green and have been impressed, particularly with what I've seen of Lennart Green.

This may be a good choice.

I've also been told that Dominique Duvivier is good but I can;t seem to find any of his material. Comments anyone?
