Hi there,
I am the Weaver, a name that refers to the majestic spider from China Miévilles wonderfully written Perdido Street Station.
However, the Weaver that is from now on associated with Talkmagic, shows little resemblance to a spider.
I am 21 years of age, and studying medicines in Groningen, a small town in the north of Holland.
As for why I am here:
I started magic due to a friend of mine who showed me a little trick that was entirely based on the one-ahead method. It sparked my inquisitiveness. I began to read books that were dealing with magic, but I found my options confined to a few old ones in the local library.
I developed a certain eagerness to unravel every trick I had laid my eyes upon. Penguinmagic provided me with a tremendous load of mindboggeling tricks that initially puzzeled me. I watched trailers over and over again to get a glimpse of the underlying methods, and soon I got a pretty decent list of tricks that I had figured out and that were from then on at my disposal.
The things I mentioned above took place about seven months ago. Magic governed my life during a short but intense period of three months, then I left it. The reason why I turned my back on magic, lies in my character, that appeared to be rather nervous during the performance of tricks. Even a trick that was to be seen by my mother only, made my fingers tremble. Eventually every trick I performed ended up in the tragic situation that is best described as 'me being caught'. I decided that magic did not suit me.
Precisely one week ago I sensed some positive energy between me and magic. It occured when I was watching a lecture of James Randi. Last week I spent hours of training my skills and reading downloaded books. One of them was written by Richard Osterlind, and it contained a few interesting lines. Osterlind stated that a magician should be focused on bringing the magic to the spectator, rather than promoting himself as a person. It sounds as a well-known fact, but it proved true to me. Now that I realise that magic should be the one and only purpose of magic, and that it should be fun to raise mystery, I perform quite relaxed.
So... I'm back!
