Whats the name of the trick that Barry and Stewart did?

This is the one where they produced wine, beer etc from a vase, Lance Burton is another person that i have seen do this trick but using a drink carton

David Devant's 'Magic Kettle' illusion is the base for this, I think.

I am quite sure you can buy such items for around £50-£100 though.

I've certainly seen the effect performed 'live' within the last 5 years by a semi-pro stage magician.

Hmmm...

Found this:
http://www.magictricks.com/stage/teakettle.htm

That's the closest I can do.

This would produce a very similar effect to the B&S one, even showing the kettle empty afterwards.

Let me just say, there could be a little 'pre-show' work which you DIDNT see on the TV... ;) I will say no more.

the inexahustable bottle/ kettle pre- dates Devant by quite a number of years Chris.

An explanation is in Modern magic, and there are well written reports of Houdin's performances of this in his tours prior to the setting up of the soires Fantasiques in Paris.

Though, the actual principle used in parts of this effect can be traced back to the aincient Babylonians and earlier.See what the aincients did for us, on bbc2 for more details.

houdin, not houdini...
Dot tell me your sitting next to a bloke called Eugene!! :D

I believe he called it the in exhaustable bottle. In his memoirs he talks about performing it in northern england.

he tells about the sound the audience made, whilst eating nuts in the stalls. Aparently this was the regular habbit at the time.
When he started pouring the different drinks from his bottle, the whole audience launched itself forward to get to the booze. It was, aparently like a wall tumbling down.
After the drinks, he would then produce silks, ribbons, and, at the end crack open the bottle to show a live Guinnie pig.
