I'm wondering... how do you guys get your avatars up? It says I can't exceed 8kb and that's just a wee bit small isn't it? I tried uploading it to another website like photobucket and it still says that I can't exceed 8kb!

Any help would be appreciated! I think Kev would know how to do this because of his great avatars :D!

I did mine in Xara 3D. If I remember, I had to muck about with the number of frames to get it to the right size.

Most decent Image editing Apps will have an export feature and you can specify the file size, it'll then output to anything smaller than that.

If you get real stuck Stevebo then mail me the image and i'll compress it for you

Get Photoshop Elements. It's a samller version of the full (and very expensive) Photoshop package, but its alot cheaper. It will serve you well!

Is it animated? If so you'll need to compress it a lot - send it to someone here and they'll do it for you.

If it's not animated it's just a matter of twiddling the jpeg compression - even I can do that so email it to me...

Looks good Stevebo,

If you are having trouble with that file you could always black&white or Greyscale the image .. I'm sure that would reduce it right down, you could probably get it full size then

 Thanks for your nice comment in your first post Stevebo :D

I couldn't tell you about file sizes, as any time I have made an animation it hasn't been for such a small file size....

Sorry to be of no help, but I see you have got it up :D

and then there's people like me who just find a nice picture and make it small enough to be accepted! damn my lack of photoshop skills!

Ok, I'm not sure if you use Photoshop or not Stevebo, but this is how you should do it if you do. First create the image you want and then resize it to 80 by 80. Then go to File - Save For Web - Save. That should get it down to a tiny, tiny file size.

 I didn't know that it did that :D

I just use the 'Save for Web' when I make a web template
